Take-Out Crab Rangoons

By Space_5 servings50 min totalPublished 6/27/2026

Crispy, golden, and irresistibly creamy, these classic take‑out crab rangoons deliver everything you expect from your favorite Chinese‑American appetizer. Each wonton is folded into a signature star shape and fried until the edges bubble and crunch. Inside, a smooth blend of cream cheese and tender crab creates a rich, slightly sweet filling that contrasts beautifully with the crisp shell. They’re comforting, nostalgic, and dangerously snackable — especially when dipped in sweet‑and‑sour or duck sauce. Perfect as a starter, party bite, or anytime craving for that familiar take‑out flavor.

Take-Out Crab Rangoons

Steps

  1. Step 1

Add the Salt, MSG, and Sugar to the Softened Cream Cheese and mix until all the seasoning are fully incorporated.
  2. Step 2

Twist each Imitation Crab Stick to break the fibers apart, then chop into small pieces.
  3. Step 3

Gently fold the chopped Crab into the Seasoned Cream Cheese until evenly distributed. Don't overmix or the crab will turn into paste.
  4. Step 4

Cover the filling and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight. Chilling firms the filling and develops the flavors.
  5. Step 5

    1. Lay the Wrapper flat in front of you like a square. Brush all four edges with the egg wash
    2. Place 2-3 tsp of cold filling in the center of the Wrapper
    3. Bring opposite corners up to meet each other and pinch them together. Then pull up the remaining two sides and press into the center, pinching all edges.
    4. Pinch every seam and the top of the Rangoon firmly to make sure all sides are completely sealed. Gently press down on the bottom to flatten it and shape it and spread the filling out slightly.
